How To Reduce Back Pain

Back pain can be caused by injury, muscular imbalance, faulty movements patterns and poor posture. In fact, poor posture itself can actually be the cause of muscular imbalances which lead to faulty movement patterns. Faulty movement patterns, whether they are used in daily activities or in sport, can often precipitate lower back injury.

What causes the kind of posture that would lead to back pain and how is it corrected? Imitation is one of the most common culprits. Quite often, people tend to adopt the postural patterns of their parents. They may also inherit certain structural weaknesses that can cause postural misalignment. A poorly designed work station also contributes to back problems, especially if there are pre-existing structural problems and muscular imbalances.

While the above mentioned factors are the more obvious culprits that cause back pain, there are also some factors that are more subtle. Constantly wearing high heels can cause misalignment of the pelvis. The nerves become compressed, or pinched together. This can result in back pain or even disk problems. Wearing girdles or "tummy control" panty hose can cause the deep core muscles to become lazy. The girdle "holds the belly in," so you feel that you don't need to voluntarily activate your core muscles. When the deeper core muscles are inactive, the back muscles work harder. This eventually leads to back pain.

Ironically, weight belts, which are often used to prevent back injuries, may actually be an indirect cause of them. Just like a girdle, the weight belt can give a false sense of core muscle activation. The posture program at BetterPosture.com can help you train your core muscles and achieve optimal postural alignment. Reducing back pain is easier than you think. Contact BetterPosture.com today!
